with a Familiar Face
I am
delighted to announce that alum Nancy Willard, MPH began her tenure with HBHE early
this year. Nancy manages HBHE’s Field Placement Program, e-Portfolio Program,
and Alumni relations and she is the instructor for the newly-developed HBHE
Capstone course.
She graduated from our program in 2009 and was one of a small cohort of HBHE
students to co-author a grant to fund their field placements in Latin America.
Nancy completed her field placement in Panama City, Panama, where she wrote a
grant that funded housing for low income families coming from rural areas for
organ transplant. During her placement, she also facilitated a PhotoVoice
project, which gained the audience of and inspired action from the national
government.
During her masters program, she worked as a Health Educator and
Project Coordinator of the community health worker program at Packard Health. Since
then, she has been a Clinical Research Coordinator for telemedicine research at
the Department of Veterans Affairs as well as a Behavioral Scientist and
Content Writer for University of Michigan’s Center for Health Communications
Research.
Nancy brings
over 8 years of experience in health behavior intervention development,
research, and implementation. In
her short time with us, she has guided students into over 100 masters-level field placements worldwide, analyzed and presented on key data from faculty and
student surveys to inform department-level curricular development and programming,
and developed promising new curricula for the masters student Capstone and HBHE e-Portfolio Programs. We are thrilled to have her on our team!
